Show A Lesson in Geography. . A day or two ago the Democrat pub-; lished a translation of a portion of an article which appeared" in the Srenska Harolden. Through an error this piece was attributed to a Danish paper. The affair seems to have considerably roiled some, and especially one Charles" V. Anderson. An-derson. He writes" to the Herald of this morning about it, and shows us up in a terrible - light. He asks, "Wonder what geography the author of that article arti-cle read in his childhood?" "In our childhood we read the Svemka Harolden Geographen. Did you ever hear of such a geography, Charles The Fifth Anderson? Ander-son? Would Charles V. inform us whether Sweden is in Scandinavia, or whether Scandinavia is in Sweden? Charles V. ought to know something about geography as he inherited the possessions of Ferdinand and Isabella, but Charles The Fifth Anderson has still something to learn about geography. At the conclusion of his beautiful little effort he says: "No, sir, we wish to paddle our Swedish canoe under our own flag." We would remind Charles V. that ifsuch is his wish that the waters of this country are American and not Swedish, and that if he floats his flag too high he may find his canoe stranded in the "Slouch of Despond," i. e. the Pen. |
