Show CHAIRMAN CARLTONS LETTER A communication from Chairman Carlton Carl-ton of the Utah Commission will be I found upon our local page It relates to i the formation of an oath submitted to the Commission by a Committee of the Loyal League It strikes us that the difference between the two oaths is more a matter of wording than anything affecting any important matter in the obligation ob-ligation The oath formulated by the Commission which has been published in TIlE DEMOCRAT is admitted to be in strict accordance with the law and the Commission could hardly be expected togo to-go outside of it by introducing extraneous matter Admitting that nothing of the kind is contained in the oath submitted by the Committee the Commission having distributed 35000 copies of the circular would hardly be justified in going to the expense of having printed by THE DEMOCRAT of an additional 35000 copies and the cost of redistribution I on account of any slight and immaterial difference which might by the finest hair splitting be shown to exist between them r |
