Show THE COMMITTEE APPOINTED A Phalanx of Solid Husiiiess ales rile Preamble and Byraws Governor West yesterday appointed the committee to perfect the organization of a Chamber of Commerce in this city The Governor himself is chairman and he has selected the following wellknown and solid men of business as his aides S P Teasdel F Auerbach Harry Cul mer W H Remington II Macintosh J C Conklin F W Jennings Win H Rowe J R Walker Henry W Lawrence Law-rence P P Shelby W H Bancroft and W E Smedley The committee met at Governor Wests quarters last evening and adopted the following preamble to the constitution constitu-tion Well knowing the necessity for the prosperity pros-perity of Utah and for the oity of Salt Lake for the purpose of stimulating the commerce com-merce of this Territory to promote its growth to develop its agricultural fruit growing and mining interests its banking and brokerage it manufactories and arts its stock and wool growing slaughtering and packing interests its architecture and public improvements its commercial education educa-tion and to disseminate information as to its wonderful natural resources To organize organ-ize and provide for a bureau of statistics in relation to manufacturing mining commercial com-mercial financial and industrial affairs of public interest and value To correct cor-rect trade abuses and secure uniformity in commercial laws and customs to harmonize and facilitate business intercourse to arbitrate arbi-trate differences and disputes to promote equity to treat with railroads in the interests inter-ests of our commerce and for representation representa-tion in all other general trade issues Therefore There-fore be it Resolved That the business men of Salt Lake here assembled proceeed to organize an incorporation to be known as the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce with the following fol-lowing bylaws The bylaws are taken substantially from those of the Denver Board of Trade The committee will meet again tonight and complete their report for the general meeting on Friday night |
