Show v I THE REGULAR WEEKLY I Ueporu Petitions and Bills Presented I Pre-sented to the City Council Last Evening I i The regular weekly meeting of the City Council was held last evening and the following matters were taken up A petition from Georgia S Snow and 150 others stated the objects of the Day Nursery and Orphans Home and asked I for assistance in providing a home for timework i time-work of the institution Referred to the II Committee on Finance and Committee on Public Grounds I Attention was called by J E Sterling to the nuisance arising from the sewers I of the Salt Lake Brewing Company Referred Re-ferred to the Sanitary Committee Auer Murphy and a halfdozen others applied for renewals of liquor licenses and all were granted The report of the Street Supervisor for the month of August stated that the total expenditures in his department amounted to 520171 The report was referred to the Committee on Streets and I Alleys The Chief Engineer of the Fire Department Depart-ment stated that the total expenditures aggregated 102386 leaving an unexpended unex-pended balance of 12111 Referred to Committee on Fire Department The City Marshal reported that the expenditures of his department including expenses at liberty Park and Washington Washing-ton Square were l24SO leaving an Unexpended un-expended balance 39388 Referred to the Committee on Police The Police Justice reported that during the month of August there were one hundred hun-dred and fiftyfour cases tried twenty one of which were dismissed total amount of cash paid the City Treasurer i after deducting expenses and remissions I by the Mayor 625 Referred to Committee Com-mittee on Police The Committee on Water Works to whom was referred the petition of B G Raybould asking for the removal of a water tank on West Temple street recommended recom-mended the granting of the petition Adopted Mrs M A Burt submitted her monthly bill for feeding city prisoners amounting to 53550 which was ordered paid Messrs Taylor Romney Armstrong submitted a bill of 32124 for windows sashes etc for the waterworks building I in City Creek canyon and the same was ordered paid Jesse W Fox Jr City Surveyor submitted sub-mitted hills for assistance upon work for the city water works amounting to 134 Ordered paid W F Anderson M D submitted a bill of j50 for attendance upon John Burton Bur-ton a man injured at the city gravel bank Referred to the Committee on Claims Council then adjourned for one week |
