Show h U rr i < ViA > i > y > 5 1 I j GR t ND ARM THE REPUBLIC I Proceedings of the Encampment at Ogden Yesterday The Council of Administration of the Department of Utah G A R met in the office of Captain Ransford Smith at Ogden yesterday morning at 10 oclock r Reports of various officers were received and approved I At 2 oclock the Encampment met in Grand Army Hall and after the transaction I transac-tion of regular routinebusiness the following fol-lowing officers were elected H CWardleigh of Ogden department commander promoted from the rank of I adjutant general of the department Colonel E Sells of Salt Lake senior vice commander reelected Geo M Parsons Hailey Idaho junior vice commander I I Bane Salt Lake medical director direc-tor I Rev TC IliffSalt Lake chaplain The following council of administration was elected J E Hudson Ransford Smith and 0 C Goodie Ogden i Geo M Parsons Halley Boise Mr Win dleigh was warmly praised for his energy and efficiency in conducting the affairs of the Department and was highly complimented by Captain Smith A committee was appointed consisting of E 11 Bynon Salt Lake and S 11 Pre shaw and J E Hudson Ogden with authority to draw on the Department quartermaster to the extent of 100 to purchase a suitable testimonial to be presented pre-sented to Mr Wardleigh It was expected that the session would last two days but owing to the desire of the Salt Lake delegation to return last night the business was rushed through I I and an adjournment had yesterday afternoon after-noon The Ogden members had prepared pre-pared a magnificent banquet for tonight in honor of their visitors and no small amount of indignation was created by the feverish anxiety of the Salt Lake delegation to getaway last night and their refusal to remain to attend the campfire toiiight Tb j desire of the Salt Lake delegation I I to return last night was party created by I the fact that they have a campfire of their own in this city tonight and partly by other causes well known by all who J have spent a day in the Junction city j |
