Show A MANLY PROTEST A Young Mormon Raises Llis Voice Against the Boycotting Movement It is refreshing to see now and then a young man with courage and manhood enough to ignore counsel in his temporal tem-poral affairs and act in accordance with his own individual ideas of right and justice jus-tice shining example of this kind was recently furnished by a young Mormon at a meeting of a Mutual Improvement Association As-sociation in this city At this meeting a boycotting resolution was introduced in pursuance to the advice ad-vice of church leaders The young man who is emplo3red as a clerk in one of the I leading Gentile business houses of the city instantly sprang to his feet in opposition op-position to the movement lIe said he was a Mormon and expected to die a Mormon but he for one would oppose any such action as that proposed and hoped there were many others who would oppose it In defense of his position he stated that he was formerly in the employ of the Z C M I That when he was thrown out of employment there he sought and was given employment by his present Gentile employers at a greater salary than was paid him by the Coop It was in very poor taste he thought for him or anyone any-one to resolve to give no patronage to any Gentile The resolution as a matter of course was passed for the bishop had counseled it but the moral effect of that young mans action was not lost What a striking and disgusting contrast con-trast is afforded bythe course of another young man who for years was given employment em-ployment at a Gentile bank in this city at a handsome salary and who upon quitting service at the bank with the expectation ex-pectation of winning immortal fame by peeping throngh glass doors and doging the steps of United States marshals instantly in-stantly became one of the most rabid and bigoted boycotters in the land Compare the two and say which is the man and which the creature |
