picturesque beyond description de-scription There is one of these most beautiful bodies of water located partly in Utah and partly in Idaho I is Bear lake and it is one of the prettiest lakes in the West I abounds in fish and during the summer months is excellent for bathing and boating It is situated in t a small valley which it almost entirely entire-ly takes up On the east and west sides of the lake there is just room enough for a wagonroad with here and there on the west side a small land projection into the water and upon which are situated situ-ated the beautiful little Mormon towns Bloomington Fish Haven Garden City and Dingle Dell are four of the prettiest among those that line the shore Then there are the Cottonwood lakes within a days ride from this city They also are full of fish and are very excellent pleasure pleas-ure resorts Within two hours ride from them an excursionist could reach the Park or Alta in which places great mineR can be seen Within three or four hours ride from this city the famous I AMERICAN FORK CANYON Can be reached This canyon and its wonderful scenery are better known than perhaps any other in Utah unless it he Weber Canyon I a longer trip would be desireable the eastern and southern parts of Utah might be penetrated A trip down south would be one of the most interesting healthy and curiosity feasting to Eastern people of any they could take They would continually be passing through Mormon settlements in which they would have a chance to see the habits and customs of this peculiar people who live not like any other people hut whose habits manners and methods or pursuing their daily labors are so vastly different from the rural people in the States Onthe way Fish Lake in Rabbit Valley could be visited This is a grand country one of the finest in Utah for a summer outing The lake is said to be 1 the higlfest in Utah I is the source of THE DIRTV DEVIL R1VFU And lays west only a few miles from amount a-mount in upon which there are 1000 smal lakes Passing on south the trip could be extended up the Sevier river io Panguich From here the Panguich lake is only about twenty miles distant This lake is reputed to contain the finest fish in Utah The place has been visited hy thousands during the summers of the last few years Twenty miles farther west ind down f precipitous and picturesque mountain is the somewhat notorious Cedar City and a short distance south of which place are the famous MOUNTAIN MKADOWS I where now sleeps the leader of that fearful fear-ful massacre John D Lee Still farther south across the rim of the basin is to < be > found the land of Dixie through which flows the beautiful Rio Virgin Up Ins river is some of the most matchles lountain scenery in Utah Toward tin head there is a forest of peaks and buttes ondcrfully fantastic They are called The Temples of Zion The Dixie country is noted principally for mon irons lizards deep sands splendid rapes and other fruits early and dry seasons and incomparably bad homemade home-made wine On the return trip THE GREAT MIXING CAMPS Silver Reef and Frisco could be taken in i a day or two could be spent at Horseshoe Horse-shoe Springa warm mineral spring in iIillard county in the shape of a large horseshoe This spring is about twenty feet deep and thirty feet wide around it on the inside are three shelves about three feet wide and six or eight feet apart The first one is about five feet from the surface and three feet below the water On it one can walk entirely 1 around the spring nnd through the clear water bub bling up see the other shelves below This spring is entirely unknown to the public even the people living in the towns a few miles distant being ignorant I of its existence or its healthgiving properties i prop-erties From this spring to 1rop found the most EXTENSIVE LAVA BEDS i In Utah Of all the freaks and contortions I contor-tions in nature to be found in Utah these f lava beds are the most wonderful i The
