Show The Fun in the Corner Grocery There are moments of positive greatness great-ness in Mr Daniel Sully Daddy Nolan at Tony Pastors Theatre These art to be found principally in the second act and like kindred flashes in Thompsons Joshua Whitcomb and Jeffersons Rip Van Winkle they touch the most sympathetic chords in the human heart Mr Sullys Daddy Nolan may be only a sketch which has for its purpose laughter and recreation nevertheless it is a care ful study at times of a real entity and it is full of homely incidents that appeal to a mixed assemblage with power and success I I suc-cess Pew actors on the stage possess the delicacy and fidelity of characteriza I tion to be seen in Mr Sullys portrait of the honest old Irishman and not one in i his line so far as we know could so artistically and effectively paint the sor sow and shame of the humble but faith fnih ful old father and guardian when he discover dis-cover that the son of his pride and love is a selfconfessed thief Mr Sully is marti m-arti t no one can dispute it hence the god fortune which has attended his ef forts The fun in the Corner Grocery is uproarious at ties always contagious generally lroad In fact the piece may be described a a stage cartoon with a caron medallion of homely truth and sentiment I surrounded by r ascrol composed of grotesque etchings and freehand crayon I caricatures There i something for j I everybody in ILMusic and Drama |
