Show i I'Jhat is Bingham? K&k'.i What Is Bingham ! That l. a queer question isn't it. But what Is Bingham? Bing-ham? "A crack in the Rocky Mountains Moun-tains seven miles long and three rods wide filled with smoke, dirt and noise," this is a definition of Bingham Bing-ham as given by one who hue lived here some little time. Is this Bingham? Bing-ham? We might aa well ask the question, "Who is John?" and receive the answer that John is an individual made up of dirt, freckles, ragged trousers, touseled hair and Inverted cap. Ixws this describe John? Well, not exactly. John may have all of these qualification.;, but they aie not the real John. He dwells beneath, all these outer encumberances. He is all these and something more in which we are interested. We may transform the "outer John" with water, wa-ter, soap, needle and thread, but w will save the same "Inner John." That "something more" ha not been changed one whit. This Inner, unknown un-known quantity is affected only by the world of ideas, ideals, and by the realm of spiritual things. But what has all this to do with Bingham? It has a great deal to do with It. A city is a complex individual, indivi-dual, if you will pardon the term, and therefore it has a complex personality personal-ity a personality made up of dirt, enioke. homes, business houses plus "something more. We have wonderful schools In this canyon. They are looking after the Intellectual development of our children. chil-dren. But what about the development develop-ment of thU "something moi," th t Ideal life, the spiritual life - Surely we all realize the necessity of the cultivation of the spiritual and Ideal matures of our children, especially under tint shadow of the careens of the Hlckmans Snyders and Gray. The churches are the only lnatltn-tlon lnatltn-tlon that specialise In the spiritual side of life. No one In the camp would want to see the Churches ckme their doors. But how many are there in the camp who are helping to support sup-port these institutions that helping help-ing make Bingham a safe place in which to live? Ar8 you one of these supporters? If not, why not? Why should not every individual to this city be connected with some church, or at least bo an ardent supporter of one of the denominations operating In the camp, Th development of th spiritual life of Bingham ts the ws-ponsibillty ws-ponsibillty of each individual eitiafta. Choose the church most to your tilting, tilt-ing, attend the services when possible, possi-ble, but always offer your support MX B. BARR. |
