Show THE B 8 0 It Is Nov To lie Placed at the Mead of a Xew Railway Combination The Leal of Death The San Francisco Dynamiter Promptly Found Guilty The Yacht Raw Withdrawal I of Railroad Passes on April Establishment of Sew Railroad Tariffs Tile 3 A 0 PHILADELPHIA March 1C In reference to the matter of the sale of the majority of the common stock of the Baltimore Ohio Railroad which carries with it the control of that company we are informed by an authbrity that is direct from President Gar ratt that in the proposed sale the interests of the city of Baltimore and JJthe maintenance mainte-nance of the trade of that city are to be fnlly cared for by placing the Baltimore Ohio Railway at the head of a new railway combination which will enlargo and improve im-prove the Southern and Western trade connections con-nections of that city and also to that extent ex-tent aid in improving the commercial relations rela-tions of Philadelphia We are further informed that while the original arrangement ar-rangement by which Mr Alfred Sully might have had control of the new combination was not carried out Mr Garrett has at present another arrangement arrange-ment satisfactory to himself with a syndicate syndi-cate of railway managers and bankers who have already fixed upon the price to be paid for the stock and the terms of payment but certain details are yet to be arranged which will fully protect the shareholders of the railway and tho material interests of the city of Baltimore and also secure an outlet by an independent and untrammeled line through to New York In the new arrangement ar-rangement the Baltimore Ohio Railway so far from losing its identity will be at the head of the combination with Mr Garrett as executive chief of the organization We are also assured that the Baltimore S Ohio telegraph lines are not to be permitted per-mitted to pass under tho control of the Western Onion Telegraph Company or under the control of Mr Jay Gould in any form and under no circumstances will this be permitted At the same time the independent inde-pendent telegraph system which will be maintained will have arrangements with other independent telegraph lines that will extend the territory covered and the efficiency of the service The adjustment of all these details will probably take considerable consid-erable time and will not be permitted to bo consmnmated in a hurry so that everything may bo placed upon some basis satisfactory to the shareholders of the company and to the public interests |
