Show I o JUDGE EMERSON For many years Judge Emerson has been upon the Utah bench and has made many friends and many enemies Politically we have always differed from him and many times could not assent to his decisions but to him we have always looked as to a friend and our earliest associations with him were in his own home at Battle Creek Michigan a home in which the sternness of the judge was never seen but in its place there reigned supreme the influence of love and true and tender hearts It was a pleasant home on the banks of a gently flowing stream whose soft sounds lulled to sleep the busy brain and made the dreams of slumbering children happy The house was inthe midst of flowerbeds and was shaded over by tall and gently sighing trees It was a home where many friends called for it was a home where only friends called But those friends ah where are they Many i I are gone forever many will meet noI I more save by the chance which fortune wheel may give All who are left will recall the happy days spent on the lake I that nestled in the woods from whence I came the song of the whippoorwill cap who of those friends can forget the gently sloping hill which ran from the rivQr and the shaded winding paths upon it None Judge Emerson resigns his position on the bench to make for himself a position I at the bar in which endeavor we wish him all success I |
