Show THE THEATRE SOLD i The Reliable Old House at Last Passes Out of the Hands of the Church John Sharp Feramourz Little Le Grande Young H B Clawson and James Jack the Purchasers The Figure Cannot Be Learned But 830000 is a Good Guess The Transaction Completed A transaction which will be of infinitely in-finitely great interest to the theatregoing public of Salt Lake was consummated during the early part of the week and was captured today by a DEMOCRAT reporter re-porter as one of the biggest scoops scored in a long time This is nothing more than the sale of the Mormon Church interest in the Salt Lake Theatre to a number of gentlemen well known for their public spirit and business reliability The matter has been under consideration for some time but took no definite shape until this week Some three years ago Mr James T Little made an offer for the house which amounted to more than the figure at which it is now sold but for some reason rea-son or other it was declined Quite lately Mr Little made AN OFFER OF 25000 For the place but the other parties bid over him While the figure given by them cannot be learned at present it is safe to infer from the above that 30000 is not far off Le Grande Young was seen by a DEMoCRAT DEMO-CRAT reporter today and from him the particulars of the transaction were learned He states that John Sharp Feramorz Little Bishop Clawson James Jack and himself made an offer for the churchs interest in the house on Monday last The proposition was accepted and the sale was consummated on Tuesday Mr Young did not care to go into details of how the stock is held but he says that Mr Sharp and Mr Little are the heaviest owners and the five of them have a controlling interest FROM ANOTHER SOURCE It is learned that the interest of the Church amounted to some ten or twelve hundred shares and that Little and Sharp alone own a controlling interest Little is the heaviest owner he having taken something over 400 shares Sharp took an even 400 shares and Young Clawson and Jack took the rest Outside of the interest held by the Church there are several shares held by other parties The Jennings estate owns about 200 shares the Hooper estate 200 John T Caine two or three hundred and there are a few others scattered about Tnit EFFECT There is little doubt that a change of management will result from the change MrClawson will doubtless made manager John Sharp will probably succeed John T Caine as president and Feramorz Little I Lit-tle succeed Mr Clawson as vicePresi dent A BONA FIDE SALE Mr Young says that their refusal to state the amount paid for the house is no indication that the sale is not a bona fide one and he gave the reporter his assurance as-surance that the whole thing is straight Thus the effects of the new law begin to show themselves almost before it is passed |
