Show HELPED HIMSEuF The Check of n Government Mule Exhibited At about 12 45 yesterday afternoon a soldier untied a chestnut sorrel horse from Busbys saloon on Second South street and partook of a free ride to the Fort Shortly after 12 oclock yesterday Mr Busby was attracted by the sight of three soldiers holding a conversation which judging from the gestures was evidently concerning his horse that was tied up in front of the saloon Mr B knowing it to be a trick of the boys to steal a ride to the Fort kept his eye on them for a while At about 12 45 he had occasion to leave the place for about five minutes and when he returned turned no horse was to be seen He immediately dispatched himself to the police station to have some one overtake the fellows arrest them and bring his horse back He was disappointed disap-pointed in this however On reaching the station he was informed that there were no officers about and therefore they couldnt send any after him Mr B accordingly rustled around hired a horse ond started in pursuit On reaching the Tort he saw one of the guards leading the horse to a stable On interviewing him it was learned that the horse had evidently been turned loose somewhere in the proximity ot the Fort on the south Although the weather was hot the hour noon the walk tiresome and the tangle foot great Mr B does not justify the act and no doubt it would lend great pleasure to his ardent soul if an opportunity to write a poem on the cheek of that government man were offered He knows the three collectively I but > cannot single out which one of these it was |
