Show BEFORE JUDGE ZANE The Graveyard Case Englands Sentence Caseys Case The following cases were heard in Judge Zanes Court today The case of Henry Carrigan vs R G McNiece et al was again taken up Carrigan sues McNiece Colonel E Sells Edmund Wilkes M B Sowles Rev H G DeWitt Rev J B Tnrall Rev CM Armstrong Rev S J Carroll General A McD McCook Simon F Mackay and Robert Wright Mr Mackay being superintendent super-intendent and Mr Wright sexton of Mount Olivet Cemetery all the others being trustees or directors The plaintiff alleges that he bought a lot in Mount Olivet Cemetery for the sum of 20 and that he buried two children there Sometime Some-time later he visited the spot and found the graves empty and the bodies rudely interred in the Strangers Strang-ers Field He places his damage dam-age in the way of burial expenses and mental distress at 2000 C S Varian and C O Whittemore appear for the plaintiff and W C1 1 Hall represents the defense The evidence is not all in yetIn In the case of the United States vs John England March 19th was set as the date for sentence In the case of The People vs James Casey selling liquor without a license I the defendant withdrew his plea of not guilty and entered a plfca of guilty He was lined 15 and costs fn the case of the People vs Matthew Newell house breaking i the defendant was arraigned and entered a plea of not guilty At the request of Mr Critchelow and with the consent of Mr Dickson the bond was reduced to 500 |
