Show War is not a football game Ani Arakelian Opinion Editor The war war in Iraq has gone on for five years 18 days and counting We have been told the same thing for years stay the course we must win in Iraq Words you would expect to hear from a football coach losing in the last quarter of the last game But this is a war not a football game In football you know who is the winner and who is the loser loser- there are only four quarters in a football game there is a set end time But what is winning in Iraq President Bush says itis itis it itis is necessary to win but heis heis he heis is not telling us what winning means It could mean a lot of things It could be when their government is ready to do their job with out our help It could be when al Quida is out of Iraq Is it when we know we are safe at home President Bush has spoken about all these things but which one is victory in Iraq and how long is it going to take One year after the war wasI was I started President Bush was claiming victory We had taken Sad dam Hussein the ally of Osama bin Laden out of power The fuel that started the fire in Americas America's heart to go to towar towar towar war was the threat of weapon of mass destruction in Iraq But we found no weapons of mass destruction and we found no collaborating relationship between Hussein and bin Laden Yet the war is going on Nearly American soldiers have died and another have been wounded The The war that is going on in Iraq is not the same war that America went in to We were told we need to protect our ourselves ourselves ourselves selves from al l Quida but that is not who the Am American rican soldiers are fighting There is a civil war going on in Iraq and America is in the middle The government that President helped set up has not been able to take care of it itself self because they know that we weare weare weare are there it do their job for them How many more Americans are going to have to be hurt or killed before President Bush sees that his policy in Iraq do donot donot donot not work t |
