Show Teaching Tea Award Reflects ts Excellence ence and Service v I.- I. 9 Kathryn athryn Jones Faculty St staff ff Youve You've probably walked the second floor of the Technology Building Balding a million minion times dragging dragging drag drag- ging your suitcase of books t talking talking talk talk- lk- lk ing with friends eating doing homework sleeping But do you ever wonder about the pictures hanging above you Perhaps youre you're one of the lucky ones Maybe you know one or two of these faces because they belong to a teacher you once had a good one Perhaps a teacher did much more for you than merely reading from a textbook Did h he or she stand out from the crowd and prove to you that learning could actually be enjoyable Following the Annual Faculty Convention on April 8 2005 you will see six new faces faceson on this wall of honor six more pictures of teachers who have proved their true excellence Teachers will receive not only a plaque with their picture said Sandra Kikuchi Coordinator of Faculty Services and Study Abroad They will also receive a certificate attend a luncheon in their honor and will receive a monetary award The Teaching Excellence Awards will be announced at the faculty convention and those receiving the award will also be honored at Commencement According to the Principles for forthe forthe forthe the Teaching Excellence Award approved by the Faculty Senate in January 2003 the Teaching Excellence Award is not something something something some some- thing you receive because youve you've had a single year of fine work or because youre you're a fine teacher merely within the classroom The award reflects a cumulative cumulative cumulative tive body of teaching excellence and service to the department division College and community ty ty Criteria for receiving the award as well as the process by which the award is given is also included ed in the information provided by bythe the Faculty Senate Were now more consistent in requirements so everyone is on the same page said Kikuchi time Full-time and adjunct part- part time teachers can be nominated ed by faculty members staff administration and students of Specific guidelines and teacher qualifications for each can be obtained by calling Sandra Kikuchi at or orby orby orby by visiting her office at TB Guidelines are also available at http http Faculty ty Fo Nominations are due March 1 I 2005 by pm p.m. but Kikuchi is open to phone calls from anyone who feels their time has run out She is also interested in receiving proposals for the Distinguished Faculty Lecturer for 2006 This program seeks to identify time full-time faculty engaged in important and exciting work they will share with colleagues and the larger community said Kikuchi The award recipient will develop a project that culminates in a public public public pub pub- lic presentation Funds of approximately 1200 will be made available to to the recipient to help pay for project development Applications an and materials documents must be sub submitted subi to Kikuchi by Friday March 1 I 2005 |
