Show Faculty Association Seeks Qualified and Diverse Staff Kathryn Jones Faculty Staff Though Professor of Management Don Gren sees himself as liberal minded in many respects there is something he sees in a purely conservative vein When others are pushing for quick answers regarding the revised hiring procedures for the faculty Grens Gren's thoughts are on the end of the term when document revisions should be complete Gren who is also the treasurer of the Faculty Association wants the college to attract and retain a highly qualified and diverse faculty faculty faculty ty that is committed to serving the students and institution He believes this can be achieved through retaining current faculty members recruiting others nationwide and assisting those already in residence to qualified tenured faculty move up within the organization must be competitive with others out there said Gren Money is always an issue If our salaries are too low our current faculty ty members will jump ship for better teaching jobs Gren believes has to keep up There are those in the faculty who receive a little littlemore littlemore littlemore more than others depending on their degrees and experience but if a teacher does his or her job well then we want to pay them reasonably well said Gren When it comes to recruiting Its expensive to hire new faculty members said Gren You have to fly them in Put them up in a hotel Recruit This takes time and energy Gren speaks of the Colleges College's more than time full-time faculty their incredible breadth and depth of expertise and the influence their continued support would mean to the College Many higher level roles throughout the College could be successfully filled by qualified qualified qualified fied faculty said Gren Tenure brings with it experience responsibility and authority to govern the institution I encourage faculty to prepare themselves for these roles With the hiring revisions underway Gren is hopeful the changes will be positive for |
