| Show Illegal aliens deadweight to US U.S. tax taxpayers payers Eric Decho Contributing Writer Throughout the history of the United States the American population has thrived on immigrants flowing in and out of this country In fact if I were to place a bet with you that your ancestors came from another country I would quit going to school right now because I would make so much money However a new problem has been brought up along the United Mexico States border According to the Department of Homeland Security their Operation Return to Sender program has already apprehended approximately 2200 criminal aliens entering through the United Mexico States The growing criminal alien immigration along the border could be bea a threatening life event to many legal immigrants in America I know that my approach on this issue is not the majority opinion especially throughout the liberal college world of the United States However it is very hard to argue the facts I am not a large supporter of President Bush but according to the Department of Homeland Security since President Bush took office agents have apprehended and sent home more than 6 million people entering the country including illegally-including more than with criminal records I think that this apprehension is overwhelmingly good and I Iam Iam Iam am glad gIad that our country is beginning to realize that we cant can't just back down when faced with large issues Our borders are important to protect especially with all the terrorists and extremists who are fighting for their supposed like god-like figures this is is another topic that I hope to discuss at another time Those of you who have studied economics may be aware of a theory entitled deadweight loss Deadweight loss is basically a loss of money that simply disappears in inan inan inan an economy from the loss of taxes etc A growing concern in America is that our economy is loosing a alot alot alot lot of money moncy since illegal immigrants are paid under the table without taxation from the companies or the individuals who pay them As economic deadweight loss increases so does inflation As inflation increases items cost more and the middle class of America suffers from the illegal immigrants and unethical corporate America diehards The moral of this story is that yes there is an illegal immigrant problem in the United States There are many causes of the problem and it is not just a democrat or republican issue It is isa isa isa a United States issue and those who live here here here- should legally realize the detriments at hand should this issue be ignored I understand that many if not the majority of the immigrants are sneaking into America to supply their families with a better life But may I point out that the vast majority of Americans' Americans ancestors did the exact same thing over years ago by byway byway byway way of Ellis Island These immigrants decided to do doit doit doit it legally without causing riots protests etc and by seeing the legalization process through no matter the circumstances or wait time that Ellis Island immigration ent entailed The illegal megal Mexican immigrants of the Twenty-first Twenty Century should follow suit of these legal immigrants and learn leam some ethics morals and civil responsibilities and take the effort to get legal or get out |
