Show Group concentrates on Utah wildlife's needs Nathan Staff Writer x A THO would want to take in orphaned ducklings WHO Y Y spend time and effort nurturing and raising th them m only to release them back into the wild Janice Caputo for one Thirteen years ago Caputo founded Utah Wildlife Rehabilitation The organizations organization's main purpose is to receive wildlife wildlife injured injured abandoned or otherwise They then help raise the animals in order to return them to their natural habitat We work with all kinds of animals says Frank Crowe one of the groups group's volunteer workers Water fowl mammals mammals mammals mam mam- mals reptiles and amphibians as well as others are among the many different animals they work to help Inc works out of Caputo's South Jordan home and up until last year was financed exclusively by its mem mem- bers And with all their members being volunteers and working in their free time the their r budget was minimal However However However How How- ever last year organized raising fund-raising efforts were started to help continue and expand their work First Security Bank donated a building to the group which is being rebuilt by members into an animal in in- has two major goals projected for the future the first of which is extensive education They would like to provide resources and materials for local schools as well as informative exhibits at state and county fairs Their second goal is to conduct a study on Utah rac rac- rac- rac coons Utah is beginning to have a large problem with them and they are now being considered a nuisance animal Crowe says that Utah has a unique species of raccoon raccoon raccoon rac rac- rac- rac coon comprised of several different combined species The envisioned result of this study among other possible results would be to find ways of controlling the raccoons and their breeding rather than simply exterminating them to end the nuisance Utah Wildlife Rehabilitation Inc is a private nonprofit nonprofit nonprofit non non- profit organization They are always looking and grateful for people willing to donate time or and/or money As they are still a small group dedicated to preserving wildlife Crowe says that all money donated goes exactly where it is supposed to go toward go-toward toward helping the animals For information on their programs how to volunteer or how to donate money or supplies contact Janice Caputo at or write to Utah Wildlife Rehabilitation Inc PO P.O.
