B Colaizzi News vs Editor Under a grant from Mer- Mer Dayton Hudson Foundation Karen Lundberg Division Chair of Humanities and Human Services will be administering training of child-care child providers in the Salt Lake Ogden and Provo areas The grant will provide approximately over a two year period to begin a permanent program See related related related re re- re- re story page A lot of people get into the family-based family child care field informally and this program program program pro pro- gram will train them in some of the basics Lundberg said there will be only a nominal charge for the training since most family child-care child providers dont don't earn much money even though what were we're taking care of children is the most important resource in the state She added that although there are currently child-care child slots in licensed centers and family-based family providers in Utah there are still over children who need day care and state regulations allow only six children per provider The training will consist of a week 14 curriculum covering child development health and safety The goal is isto isto isto to teach child-care child providers how to provide a home-based home environment that will develop a childs child's physical social social so so- cial dal cognitive and emotional skills Cathy Thompson an instructor instructor instructor in in- in Early Childhood Development at the Riverside campus will teach the training training training train train- ing in the Salt Lake area She will also coordinate adjunct faculty in Ogden and Provo |
