Show Parking System Advisory Committee Formed To Aid Student And Fa Faculty Parking r t JO i by y Brad A committee to aid student and faculty parking has been formed at atUT UT The committees committee's purpose isto is isto isto to eval evaluate te the parking system listen to complaints and make recommendations to the Department of Public Safety The Parking System Advisory y Committee as it is formally called consists of six members These members rs include Nancy Matthews Chairperson Judd Morgan Anna AnnaLee AnnaLee AnnaLee Lee Johnson Gary Carpenter Roland Lance and G. G Bo Bowman The members of the committee represent a spectrum of staff and students of The areas represented include the staff administration students handicapped handicapped handicapped handi handi- capped instruction and parking According to Eugene Overson Facilities Coordinator the main objective of the committee is to evaluate and improve the parking system They will not make any drastic changes in the program The Parking System Advisory Committee will meet once a month to hear complaints and discuss solutions Overson urged students that are interested in voi voicing ing their opinion to attend the meetings The next scheduled meeting will be on March 12 in inthe the Senate Chambers at The parking situation at is improving according to Overson During the past two y years ars has added roughly stalls behind the Busin Business ss Building Currently a bill li lif f 0 tf r. r adding an additional 1015 stalls near r v j the NE ME corner comer of the Business r S Building is scheduled for the Utah N ski Q State Stat legislature Overson expressed high hopes for this bill stating that if A 4 it does pass students can look j forward to these additional stalls stalls' by H nex next tF Fall a. a 11 i- i A m mIn In addition to the proposed new 1 stalls there are eight handicapped 7 iii parking zones under construction at atthe atthe ifs r the pr present ent time These new stalls r wi will be located behind the Business B w Building g. g J s 's The only fo foreseeable seeable problem with o parking will be the construction of the College Centers Center's s second ond phase S Scheduled for this fall this construction construction rt tion will limit to some extent the R 5 parking directly in front of the t Center The space will be used as a I IS S staging ta area rea f for or supplies 1 les an and d L equipment n during construction t r The Parking System Advisory r r Committee w will ll be be bean 0 an ongoing lr program am electing new officials as openings occur If students students' have any any fi questions about scheduling of meetings or parking they are urged to speak with any anyone one of the i 1 J committee mem members ers l J I f 0 |
