Show Metals Trades Instruct Instructors rs' rs Build Jet Engine Stands Stands Stands' r The Aviation Maintenance Technician Department was in need of some jet engine stands to pass an FAA inspection on January 4 1985 and to provide access for the students to work on on these 1500 lb Ib engines To order these stands would have cost tens of thousands of dollars and nd probably could not have been obtained in time to meet the F FAA AA deadline John Udy Chuck Woodbury and Joe Kelley d designed signed a stand which could be built out of surplus material Joe Kelley elley did the machine work and he Steve Ford and three work-study work students Lonny Lanny Veater Yeater Leandro Leon and LeRoy Packer fabricated four engine stands for a few hundred dollars With the cooperation of Terry Boyd the stands were delivered to the Woods Cross facility in time to meet the F FAA AA deadline Most of his work was done between the Fall and Winter Quarters during the school break In addition to the stands the Welding Machine Shop and Carpentry Departments have all been instrumental in the design fabrication or building the tooling and components required for the Aviation Maintenance Program |
