| Show Capital Punishment by bv Cal Oil Corbridge Since the United States Supreme Court ruled the death penalty unconstitutional unconstitutional unconstitutional it has been a much- much heated topic The most popular popular popular lar idea from the people is to have Capital Punishment rein rein- stated Their reasons being that it is a real to crime It would save the taxpayers taxpayer's taxpayers taxpayer's taxpayers taxpayer's tax tax- payers payer's money Also it helps society feel they have been compensated for the wrong done Without the use of Capital Punishment or the Death Penalty Penalty Penalty Pen Pen- alty people who commit crimes know they have nothing to worry about With the laws the way they arenow are arenow arenow now a person could go out commit murder not worrying worrying worrying worry worry- ing about the death penalty get caught by the police and be out on bail and back on the streets in five hours Does this help stop crimes I say NO If a person knew for some reason he could in fact lose his own life because of the crime he was committing I think he just might t think twice before he would go ahead and commit that crime Its It's like leaving your keys in your car If the keys are there you have a better chance of someone taking your car If the laws arent aren't there you have a better chance of losing your LIFE Do you realize what it takes to keep a person in prison for life Besides having all the court and lawyer costs it requires a place for the criminal to stay Not just to sleep but also for recreation exercise yard study hall rest restrooms restrooms restrooms rooms and showers This is not all the cost however The prison must also provide food and clothing clothing clothing cloth cloth- ing year round It must also pro provide vide a highly qualified highly q qualified medical and dental staff incase in incase incase case anything happened to the prisoner It must also provide psychiatric help to those prisoners who need it or ask for it All of this professional help is provided by the taxpayers taxpayer's money and its free to the prisoners To top it all off we also pay the prisoners who have broken the law to work at the prison He now has no bills to pay free board and room plus good medical and dental benefits at no cost and gets paid If Capital Punishment were reinstated a lot of taxpayers taxpayer's taxpayers taxpayer's taxpayers taxpayer's tax tax- payers payer's money could be saved Moses in the Bible said An eye for an eye a tooth for a tooth A lot of times this is how society feels when a violent crime is committed They feel that somehow they should and in some cases must be compensated for what has happened To know that a person who has killed someone else maybe even a friend or relative will be beback beback beback back on the streets after five years in prison does not seem just and fair There is a type of satisfaction in knowing knowing knowing know know- ing that a person who has done wrong for so long with so much is finally getting what he deserves If Capital Punishment is reinstated it would definitely help to stop the violent crimes in the US U.S. It would I save the taxpayers taxpayer's quite a bit bitof bitof bitof of money It would also help society to feel that somehow JUSTICE was in fact served I Works Progress Administration Administration VP A Art Program paintings will be displayed at atthe atthe atthe the Whitmore Library 2197 East South through June 9 The paintings which have been collected from various owned County-owned buildings by Salt Lake County's Real Estate Department may be viewed during library hours Monday through Thursday 10 am a.m. to 9 pm p.m. and Friday and Saturday 10 am a.m. to pm p.m. |
