Show LETS THAT BIG FIRE perhaps a lesson can be learned from the fire that occurred in south creek saturday in the first place parents should caution their children against the usie use of fire or matches when there is no adult along to judge ot of its dangers and make sure that no chance is being taken of starting a general conflagration in the second place it should he be borne in mind that after so much wind and little storm the grass and leaves are tinder dry with wind in the right direction a fire could spread over thousands of acres doing untold damage F fortunately the fire saturday did not come when we had a high wind that has marked so many days this spring with such a wind the fire could have been bourne up the creek to the mountain taking brush and trees in ifs is path and leaving bare desolation in hi its wake e such a tiling thing would be tragedy too awful to contemplate and yet it could easily happen so far as w san juan is concerned w e have been very fortunate in not having any serious forest or brush fires to us they are something that we read about in the papers as happening somewhere else so that we have not had first hand knowledge of their devastating effects lets keep it that way by cautioning our children and also being careful ourselves |
