Show I 1 the old settler NY my dear san Jua ners they got married back in the thil ties both of them fine f me and clean and cherishing the he holy am of emulating the example of their parents by having a lar large family but the coming of their first child was a tragedy from which the young mother barely escaped I 1 w with th her life and the little 1 one died in the ordeal still with I 1 that super courage of real motherhood the younk young wife ventured into the perilous pe rious valley again her hopes fearer than life itself again it was a tragedy more terrible than the first the mother and c child h i 1 d lay uncertainly for a long time between life and death and again she came childless out of the ordeal and this time she was left with no hope nor p possibility ssi of ever becoming a mother with no possibility of a family of otheir their own they mourn mourned cJ in 1940 they adopted a newborn infant boy and as they lavished heir love ove and their attention upon him the great emotion of parent hod h od burned warm in their hearts again A ten year old girl was added ad aed to their little family and in in 1945 another infant boy now wi with th three children taking about all of heir attention they felt quite contented then early this year a young father came from the eastern J states with two little litte girls two land and three years old their mother had died and having no home for them he was eager to fini find some ne who would and love ithem them we wanted them both as soon as we saw them she said but 1 it looked like more than we could I 1 do we have room for so many and we knew we would have to change our whole program of life if we adopted the two we did decide to take the younger girl to be a companion to the little boy but when we thought of separating the little sisters we hesitated it came to a time when we had to make our decision before moin ing and then the father would take the three year old girl back with him to the east we decided to pray about it that something would happen berre before morning to indicate to us what we ought to do and enable us to make up our minds I 1 some time in the dead hours of that night that older girl called I 1 to me mama mania mama and when ii 11 went to the door of her room she urged me to come ver to her bed I 1 where her arms were stretched out to me hold me tight mama she pleaded dont let me go well that settled it we knew at once what we ought to do what we had to do so we have the five children and were sure were going to make out and be linore more happy than we were before ALBERT R LYMAN |
