| Show daily mail service between thompson d D durango u r a n g 0 one day last july ives from grand junction durango cortez and from many po points ants in our own state met in monticello to discuss the feasibility of a daily mail route between durango and thompson officials of mail and railway service were also present and a tenta tentative ive plan was drawn which was presented to officials in washington with the result that it has been agreed to operate on a daily schedule beginning next july As sta staged ed in this paper on several occasions since chairman A J redd has been in constant com tion with mail authorities S turn with the chosen mem beof the adjustment committee finally arriving at a point where the proposed schedule was vas ready for approval and adoption in another column the letter written by supt bupt J H Mus musgrave to a representative in price contains some valuable information regarding the proposed plan and the suggestion for bids which will be called for shortly mr redd also received an encouraging cou raging letter from the manager of the saru Spruce c detree tree lodge at mesa verde national park who has been watching the developments with much interest among other things mr ansel F halls says 1 I wish that we in mesa verde national park might have contributed more actively to the movement as we will undoubtedly benefit greatly f from rom the results offhand I 1 would say that the much needed new mail route will w ill place us at least one day closer to the pacific coast I 1 salute you for the completion of an important task it will be good news to all of the he committee and business representatives senta tives to know that the proposed plan has been approved and will go into effect before many months much credit is due A J redd for his untiring efforts in bringing about this much needed mail service |
