| Show U of U news 0 dinner at the alta club p in thanksgiving 1941 and even the loneliest freshman at the university of utah even the shy est underclassman has a date to write home about every out of town student at the U has been invited to dinner a one of salt lakes oldest clubs b by the university mothers club the dinner hour is set early in the evening to enable students to attend the thanksgiving football game e A program of music and entertainment after the dinner will feature talented out of towners downers and other U students the thanksgiving dinner is given annually by the mothers club and has become a popular campus tradition it is designed to provide happy holiday fare and entertainment for out of town students who live in boarding houses where turkey day is is not celebrated other activities of the mothers club are devoted primarily to needy students stu dents in addition to a student loan fund the organization composed of salt lake city matrons matrona mat rons daily supplies a large number of students with milk caps and gowns are loaned to graduating seniors who cannot afford to rent them free luncheons are given during the three test I 1 weeks of the school 0 year magazines and newspapers are supplied for students a girl scout isi is sent to summer camp and santa thel is subbed dubbed for each year by the group high society registration for a home economics class in interior decorating provides many U of U girls with an entree to some of salt lakes most beautiful homes each week the class visits an outstanding home at the invitation of its owner before the trip the girls study the architectural features of the home and on the trip observe its decoration schemed scheme and landscaping |
