Show Prep gridders clash in all-star game Fri. By KEITH DUNCAN SALT LAKE CITY-The high school football stars of 1985 suit up one more time on Friday, Aug. 1 at 8 p.m. at Judge Memorial High School to determine some supremacy between 4-A and 3-A. The 1986 Utah High School Coaches All-Star football game will be the setting, the annual game which is conducted by United Cerebral Palsy of Utah including Camp Kostopulos. All funds generated from the game go directly to those program. The 13th annual game will feature more players from Davis County than ever before. There will be twelve in total, two more than what participated two years ago from the county. Davis High School, the runner-up to eventual state champion Weber High, featured five players on the roster. They include Blake Hart (6-1 , 205) who will maan a fullback position, Roger Home (6-2, 225) who will play guard, Trevor Page (6-2, 200) a tackle, Chris Card (5-11, 185) a safety on defense and finally Clay Singley (6-3, 180) who will also play a safety position. Bountiful High will see three of their former players in action on Friday. They include Matt Bombard (6-1,1 70) the kicker for the 4-A team, Steve Badger (6-6, 230) guard, and Erick Bahr (6-3, 195) who will play an end slot on defense. The rest of the county schools each will be represented by at least one player. Clearfield will have Vaun Waite (6-6, 210) in action as a tackle. Viewmont's former Mike Goodrich (6-1), 160) will play corner-back. corner-back. The talented speedster from Woods Cross will be in attendance, none other than Carl Ward (5-7, 155). Lastly comes Rex Brimhall from Layton High (6-6, 205) who will play end on defense. Weber High put a total of eight players on the 4-A roster, the most of any team. Leading the list of eight and the MVP of the state champion Warriors, is Jon Fuller who will be in uniform. Fuller will be attending Weber State College this fall. There will be 52 players total on the 4-A roster of which 24 will come from schools north of Woods Cross High School. The coaches of this year's game are Rod Bockwoldt of Weber High School for the 4-A team and Coach Ray Newbury of Springvil-Ie Springvil-Ie for the 3-A. These coaches took their teams to their respective state championships in the 4-A and 3-A divisions in 1985. A banquet honoring the players and coaches for their excellence in sports and generosity of their time and effort was scheduled for Thursday, July 31 at 7 p.m. These coaches and players will be the guests of the Sheraton Triad Hotel who is hosting the banquet. Friends, family, relatives and the general public are welcome to attend by making reservations with United Cerebral Palsy by calling call-ing 582-0700. The fund sgenerated from these football games have helped enable Camp Kostopulos to increase service from 1 1 weeks of camp for the handicapped to 14 weeks. Other summertime programs benefitted by the All-Star Classics include a pre-school for the disabled, wilderness trips, and community-bases recreational activities. acti-vities.
