Show honored on his birthday in meeting 0 on tuesday evening during the MIA MI A program mr chariots E walton a formet former bishop of the monticello ward and a much loved citizen found himself the center of attraction as result of a tribute being paid to him as one of the early pioneers the day which marked his sev enty third birthday was also a memory date for mr walton six tyone ty one years earlier he was one oae of tho thet party who were forging their way across the waste land in southeastern utah although only a boy of twelve years he well remembers taking part in tho the placing of a shot to blast the famous rock now known as hole in the rock in order that a passage way might be made in the hazardous route undertaken the explorer group of scouts arranged with lynn lyman of Blandi blanding nj to give an exhibition of the colored slides taken on the recent trip to this historic spot and in honor of the occasion all of the pioneer men mem and women who made the trip last september idere were invited to attend as special guests at the close of the evening program a family reunion was held at the walton home and another enjoyable hour was spent by the I 1 family and a few of the old time friends who were among the early pioneer group with mr walton |
