Show descendants of pioneers leave for long trip about thirty residents of monticello left n monday for the len 1 enday journey to natural bridges where they were scheduled daled to meet from other places a outlined in the issue cf last week As early as saturday many and some of the neca beccary cary ary supplies were started on their 5 and bright and early mon morning other I 1 things hi ings were wera piled on pickups to go in advance of the cars which would transport trans the travelers to their first night destina destination during the day storm clouds gathered and by afternoon rain was falling in monticello and from all appeal appearances ances it looked very unpromising in the direction of the bridges the weather cleared in the evening but during the early morning 0 hours of tuesday a series of terrific rain and hail storms again swept over monticello and the surrounding country and a steady rain rain continued ahr throughout the day we learned later that many who were planning to attend the annual meeting and program at the natural bridges went as far as blanding on monday evening but were advised to return to their homes since the roads were impassable beyond that point those who left early in the day were unable to return the same night it is regrettable that the severe storm should come at this particular time when so many handmade had made plans to attend the monday evening meeting even though they could not take the longer trip and because so much preparation iad had been made and so fine a program was planned for the ten day outing it is not to be wondered at that a few abandoned the trip because the traveling conditions are hazardous at best over the route they were expected to take more about the trave travelers lersy ex Z bences ances will be published upon air return next week |
