Show citizenship IN THE C C C in order to better understand the benefits of the toward making better citizens out of the millions of young men who have enrolled in the past six years we should first determine who cr what a citizen is according to the constitution all persons born or naturalized in the united states and subject to the jurisdiction thereof aie citizens of the united states and of the state wherein where iii they reside it is easy then to determine who is and who is not a citizen but it s a much bigger job to decide who is and who is not a good citizen one of the greatest teachers of good citizenship is the most people think of the the in terms of forest trails barracks officers and men but there is much more to it than that to these men it is a job when there is no work they appreciate this and it brings them closer to a government which they feel is doing all in its power to aid them respect for the officers placed in C charge har rg e by the government naturally follows and a greater reverence for the flag and all it stands for is bred respect turn over to the work projects and these men from the cities surprise old timers by the zeal and spirit they show in their work every nian man who leaves the leaves a monument behind him not the projects themselves but the spirit which he put into his work whether it ranges from the smallest project to one that benefits the entire nation it is a spirit that springs from the soil and greatly influences the future of all those fortunate enough to have been a part of this gigantic experiment which is proving to be invaluable in in natural and human conservation and of patriotic rehabilitation I 1 JOSEPH P REGAN |
