Show BUSINESS FORESIGHT it would seem that the outstanding event of the past week in monticello was the opening of the palmer confectionery ti onery and we are pleased indeed to take note of the many friends who offered congratulatory greetings to mr air and mrs palmer on this occasion we regret that we were unable to be among those who visited the store on the opening day altho we shall do so before many days and in the meanwhile may we add word of congratulation and our good wishes for success and the steady growth of this business enterprise we understand that the third section of this attractive group of three buildings will be ready very shortly and we are looking forward to the announcement of the opening of the claude foy moving picture theatre we well recall when the first start was made on this building project last spring and how diligently mr bailey and later mr palmer worked on their respective locations to lay the foundation and pile the cement blocks one layer after another until the outer walls were completed not forgetting the expert workmanship of thomas H evans who has also served continuously throughout these months another achievement for you mr evans to be added to your many other accomplishments in masonry and generall general contract work another familiar figure was that of gordon robson who was engaged for all of the electrical work on these buildings and when we saw mr air robson at work we knew that each building in turn was nearing completion in previous time we mentioned the work of lee richey and paul wood son of mr air and mrs airs arthur wood who did some of the carpenter work and who made attractive counters in mr air baileys store so did these native sons combine their skill and efforts with the result that monticello has a group of the most modern type of buildings to be found anywhere the foresight and daring of these business men to establish themselves so well in advance of the inflow of people we have always predicted would come to this section is pleasing indeed these forward looking steps will be an incentive to others and will serve as a magnet to attract the growing population of the future when so many who are finding it more difficult than ever to make a living in the larger cities will be seeking opportunity to establish reestablish re themselves in this intermountain country and that time is not far distant we who are privileged to live in this wide open country are fortunate indeed so let us get together with reater greater understanding of the times in which we live and con continued linued willingness to help each other by patronizing the business houses in our own community in order that each one in turn may add to their stock of such things as we require in time we shall see even greater improvements and variety of stock equal to that of the larger cities good luck to you enterprising merchants of monticello we are looking forward to the time when we may enter each place of business again as we will continue to divide our own support in the future as in all times past |
