Show DARREL BUCK BLACK LOSES LIFE IN IH auta W ACCIDENT darrel black sixteen year old son oi of mr and mrs glen black of monticello ti was instantly killed last tuesday day at P M when the car which he be was wag driving dri vinz accompanied by john L limes innes and mrs rollo kollo myers left the road and overturned a twelve foot embankment twenty miles south of moab john I 1 L innes received several broken ribs while mrs myers escaped with minor scratches and according to findings of sheriff J B of moab and sheriff lawrence palmer of sm san juan county the accident was caused through the collapse of a wheel on the car after it had been driven several miles on the rim after the tire had blown out black was evidently held in the car by the steering wheel when it overturned ever turned and was so caught that his neck was waa broken when Whir lb caught tj t between the car and the ground as the car rolled over death occurring probably instantaneously innes and mrs were evidently thrown clear of tile the rolling car but the former must have been thrown over the embankment and encountered jagged rocks ca causing asip the fractured ribs claud batty L a state road engineer came on the scene shortly after the accident occurred seeing that black was dead he left him where found and picked up innes and mit mils myers and rushed theril them to the moab hospital and then notified sheriff of the mishap attempted to get in touch with sheriff palmer who had just left blanding and could not be reached he then phoned the black home in monticello I 1 and then immediately went to the scene of the accident he took black from under the car anti and wrapped him up and shortly afterward wm innes joe cooper mrs cariie black and angeline Ang cline duckett arrived cn n the scene from monticello they took charge of the body and brought it back to monticello sheriff cheriff he riff palmer accompanied by lloyd duckett uncle of the dead boy went to the scene of the accident the next morning the sheriff te deported ported on his return that his investigation vesti mation gation showed that thai the car had sustained a blowout but no attempt tempt had been made to repair it the car had been driven some four miles on the rim the rim came off at a turn of the read in mule shoe hoea canyon but the car had centi rued I 1 running on the spokes ef cf the wheel until the whole wheel collapsed caust causi caus i t ing the car to swerve from the read I 1 and go over the embankment i |
