Show when its springtime in the rock iss these opening line of the chorus of one of our popular songs of a few years ago always impressed us and we aften NN wondered ion dered what it would mean to live in such a beauty spot pot amid the granduer gran duer of the mountains when all nature respond res 5 to the springtime season of the year we also were much impressed with certain books and with plays enacted in our theartres theatres the thi atres in the east wherein life was so 80 well portrayed there was a something about such environment that appealed and it always seemed as if we should be living in such surroundings roun soundings dings te rather than in the pent up quarters of th the city amid the confusion of city life with its many crowds of business people and pleasure seekers everywhere many times curnin turning night into day here we are and artter afele er three and a half years of actual living in this western land watching the turn of beach season and living very cloge clode to mountains of great beauty and not far from the great rocky mountains we now wonder why more of the city folks who are in such turmoil now do not pull up stakes and leave the congested sections sec tiong and such places where dust storms and other forms of disruption are making of life a problem of such speaking of springtime e calls to mind other of the past pa st which are so different from our present form of living and again we could make comparisons which differ as light front from darkness although we would no not exchange our form of life here with that of the past even when uncertainties and inconveniences try our soul in regard to things which were unheard previous years at this time of the year we must niso also put up with the melting snows which cause muddy roads and prevent us biorn making progress in certain quarters where we should now be at work but with the passing out of this area of the present storm period we look forward to a lenew new start which will spell progress in many ways speaking of progress we ws wish to state for the benefit of certain ones who cannot understand how we may purchase new land and who seem to be concerned that we seem to have money for such projects that the land we have recently gained access to was made possible thru the generosity of one of our members who offered his car as a trade exchange and because a friend in the east sent the small down payment necessary to complete the deal we mention these things because becaas e there is criticism 0 1 our cur activities no matter what we try to do and because there is so much talk that we ire arc doing things we should not do or not doing things we are supposed to do I 1 so for the benefit of our friends friend in local or distant points who may think that we are sitting on oil top of the world as one friend terms our apparent success we wish to state that only in so far as the actual altitude is concerned are we in such a position if it were not for our continued optimism or faith call it what you will that all things that seem inot fot right will right themselves we might also say that we have every reason to think we are living in the lowlands As a parting word may we also say ahat if only ww orrie half of the folks who write Us asking for information or to question our words and works would send sand postage to tc cover the literature or to pay for material inia teri al read a bit since we answer every latter and try to comply with every lage age to cover the literature or to pay for the material they ashfor ask for it would ease our road a bit since we ans answer every letter and try to comply with every request there is a bright spot however in in every seeming cloud and if it nvere nere not that the articles printed in recent newspapers arid and magazines brought us in contact with some of our old friends who have wondered where we are and also for the fact that a few letters resolve into new friendships our road would be more difficult i to follow |
