| Show SAN JUAN SCHOOL f by lillian lyman LOOKING AHEAD I 1 f it requires heroic courage to face fruitless effort take up the broken strands of a lifework life work to look bravely toward the future and proceed undaunted on our way but what to our eyes may seem hopeless failure is often but the dawning of a greater success it may contain itt in its debris the foundation material of a mighty purpose or revelation of new and higher possibilities high ideals noble efforts will make seeming scenting failures trivial which need not dishearten us they should prove sources of new strength the rocky way may prove safer than the slippery path of smoothness birds cannot fly best with the wind against them ships do not progress in calm when the sails flap idly against unstrained mast we as teachers and students row now face our trial a new experience to test our strength and courage and to prove to our satisfaction that we can and WILL carry cany on such disaster brings us nearer to each ach ether and unites us in one body striving together for success we will forget our and hardness our failures and disaster we will even forget to kok back on the days less filled with hardships and trouble we have bave eyes only for the futures future when through our cur cooperation and united efforts our dreams will materialize as they did once before when our school was so recently and dedicated we have our chance now to cultivate character and strength as never before may we look forward with eyes straight ahead brave hearts and the wn wil power and strength to carty carry on rattler memorial issue |
