Show Sugar House looks to 1955 with a business gleam never before known in these parts. The stage is set, the time is right, and the men with business know-how are primed to turn loose their greatest business talents for a fair return for their efforts in the New Year of 1955 just unfolding its wings. While many feel the retail trades business growth is just about in full bloom now, virtually all are in accord that new light industries, wholesalers, service concerns and more and greater off-street parking facilities will bring millions more in new business dollars into tliis fic problems. "We are making a series of studies stud-ies that will continue and I am sure will work out a solution' to the knotty problems in the Sugar House area. "We will work out a sensible solution, less costly to undertake now than later, and if it's done right, will be the greatest savings in the long run to the folk of Sugar House. "With a lot of constructive thinking, we can lick any problem prob-lem we have or that comes up in our greater growth which is certain." mushrooming residential area. RAY D. FREE, president, Sugar House chamber of commerce: "1955 outlook is as bright as can be. I have looked over the U S. News and World Report and other business reviews, and all are of one mind: that there will be a business boom nationally and anything done nationally. Sugar House will do more of and better. "I believe 1955 will see all vacancies va-cancies filled with businesses yes, and all unbuilt areas built up or in the building." L. L. HALVERSEN, immediate past president, Sugar House chamber cham-ber of commerce: "I am not a prognosticator. However, Sugar House had a good year in 1954, and it will continue to grow. "More and more people will be coming out here in 1955 for wholesaling, whole-saling, manufacturing, the good services and the free off-street parking which will be developed this year. "I feel sure business will be good in 1955, at least 5 per cent greater than in 1954 during the first six months, and everyone had better get ready to take care of it. "There will be more types of new business. Warehousing, professional pro-fessional people and other new types will enter the Sugar House area. There is some and will be lots more business development from so-called branches of downtown concerns. "And certainly one of the most encouraging things is the growth of the chamber of commerce, a tremendous growth accomplished in 1954." D. JAMES CANNON, executive secretary, Sugar House chamber of commerce, said, "1955 should be a good business year in Sugar House. First of all new and expanding ex-panding retail businesses have filled in the blank spaces in the heart of Sugar House. "We have a favorable picture on incoming light industries, wholesale businesses and in the service fields. Sugar House is becoming more and more the plaee to go for good services with plenty of off-street parking. "We have a favorable development develop-ment along our railroad for warehousing, ware-housing, and ample open ground for light manufacturing to locate here, close to convenient and comfortable com-fortable residential districts for the workmen."
