Show Fishing improves in high country After a cold winter with tons of ice and snow, the high country is starting to thaw. Recent warm weather has brought people into the Uintas looking for places to spend upcoming holiday weekends. Warm weather has also brought high runoff in rivers and small streams. Streams will be difficult to fish in the fast water and possibly dangerous in some areas. Caution should be observed. On the other hand, reservoirs and lakes have been providing some excellent opportunities to catch fish. The key to getting into some fast fishing, early in the year, is to catch those bodies of water that are just opening up from winter win-ter ice cover. Fish are hungry in these waters and mother nature has not provided much food during the winter. As the Mirror Lake Highway area opens up, many lakes will become be-come excellent fishing for brook and cutthroat trout. The Uinta Mountains have many access points and fishing opportunities. The key is to follow the snow line as the high country breaks from winter to spring. |
