The State Babe Ruth Tournament Tourna-ment will run from July 12-17. This tournament will feature the top eight major league teams, ages 1 1-12, 1-12, in Utah, via for the state title and a berth to the regional tournament tourna-ment in California. The games will be played daily from 2-10 p.m. Saturday to Tuesday, with the semi-finals and championship played Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Farmington's second tournament tourna-ment is the fourth annual Festival Day No Pitch, Best Team Tournament Tourna-ment using a pitching machine. In the past, as many as 32 teams from throughout Davis County have participated. The tournament also starts July 12 and ends around July 23, depending on the number of teams. Farmington started using the pitching machine concept five years ago and now nearly every city recreation in Davis County has followed suit. Any minor league team, ages 9-10 league rostered team, no all stars, may enter this tournament by contacting a Farmington Farm-ington City Recreation Board member, or Ron Osborn, 45 1-5326. The entry fee is $50 per team. The tournament will be limited to the first 32 teams. The third tournament in July is for the major league teams, ages 11-12, which is scheduled for July 21-26. The entry fees have not yet been established. This is also for league teams only, no all-stars or pick-ups. |
