Show CHARTER MEET III HOLLADAY ' Sunday marked the charter service serv-ice for the Holladay Community church, 2631 East 4800 South. Rev. Macon Cowles, pastor, said two communion services were held, with more than 50 persons becoming be-coming charter members. Holladay residents have been meeting informally for several months. Sunday's services were the first reception of members. A meeting is set for Thursday, November 19, for the charter members mem-bers to discuss -a constitution, bylaws by-laws and articles of incorporation. In explaining Sunday's services, Rev. Cowles said, "Instead of creed, the Congregational churches stress a covenant, which is not rigid formula to be adherred to by the individual. Singing of the covenant is a tradition that dates back to the pilgrims." The purchase of a parsonage at 2727 Kentucky Ave. was announced by the pastor into which his family fam-ily moved the past week. |
