Scouting has benefited for more than 35 years in this area as a result of his faithful efforts. Mr. Michelsen has been a member of the Executive. Board since its organization in 1918. He has also served as a member of the Council Corporation, a member mem-ber of the Board of Trustees, Council Chairman of the Finance Committee at the time Camp Steiner was acquired and developed. (lliiue Hammond Hultquist Michelsen Boy Scout Week Spotlights Scouters Four East Side Scouters were presented Silver Beavers at the recent annual scout meeting held in the coliseum. Honored were Earl J. Glade, E. Eugene Hammond, Ham-mond, Arnold E. Hultquist, and Fred M. Michelsen. Former Mayor Glade's experience experi-ence reaches back to pre-scouting when he organized twelve and thirteen year olds into marching and singing groups. When scouting scout-ing came along he was a natural for it and rose in the ranks to an Executive Board member which position he has held for 25 years. Arnold E. Hultquist, Scoutmaster Scoutmas-ter Troop 197, recalls some proud moments in a long career of scouting, scout-ing, topped by his Silver Beaver award. He is recognized as one of those sincerely devoted men who has dedicated his life to serving boys. In Scouting positions posi-tions Mr. Hultquist has served either as the Scoutmaster or as a member of the Troop Committee Commit-tee of the Zion Lutheran troop since 1915, also as Neighborhood Commissioner, Vice-Chairman and District Chairman of the Twin Peaks District. The Silver Beaver was awarded to D. Eugene Hammond, Council Commissioner who was engaged in scouting nearly 40 years ago, when he acted as Assistant Scout Executive from 1919 to 1925. He was Scout Executive from 1925 to 1952 and Council Commissioner from 1952 to the present. Through the years thousands of boys and men have come directly under his influence.'
