Show Granite Art Association Plans Dual Musical Presentation The Granite Arts Association will present the Children's Dance Theatre of the McCune School of Music and Art, and the A Capella choir of the Brigham Young University, Uni-versity, at the Granite High school auditorium, Tuesday, Feb. 28, 8:15 p. m. The program, which promises to be one of the outstanding performances per-formances of the art season, will include folk ballads in duets and solos presented by the choir and dancers. "Carol of the Drums," "Cradle Hymn," "Cherry Tree Carol," "Set Down Servant" and "Joshua Fit the Battle of Jeri-co," Jeri-co," will be among the numbers. The dance theatre will be composed com-posed of 27 members and a special spe-cial dance ensemble with Ruth Burks, Catherine McKay, Joyce McKay, Penny Anderson, Ann Goalen .Kathleen Hinckley, Mary Linda Klumker and Linda Call performing. Dances presented and choreographed choreo-graphed by the choreodancers include, "Darkness of Freedom." "Black Is the Color of My True Love's Hair" "Set Down Freedom." "Quest of the Ribband" and "From the Cosmos." Participating members mem-bers of the choreodancers will be Juan Vulenzuela, Robert J. Blake, Joan Penman, Gay Blanchard, Janet Lish, Karen Stephensen. Shirley Ririe, Janice Day and an augmented group of performers. The well-known Prof. Virginia Tanner, director of the Dance Theatre, will be assisted by Lawrence Law-rence Reed Hansen, music; Vere L. Mathews, costume design; Joern Gerdts, photographer; and Robert B. Bennett, business manager. man-ager. Miss Tanner just recently presented pre-sented several of her dancers on a national TV program and has received much recognition for her outstanding performances. The BYU choir of 70 voices renown re-nown for its sensitivity of interpretation inter-pretation and quality of music, is directed by Professor Newell B. Weight. |
