Show A NOD A fiUDGE Quietly and without fanfare the city street department . . moved in on a project dear to the hearts of Sugar House folk this week. It surfaced in fine blacktop black-top the Wilmington-Thir-' teenth East strip. The Sugar House chamber of commerce was mlghtly instrumental instru-mental in getting that strip opened in order to expedite traffic in and out of Sugar House. And the city made a dandy follow-through by resurfacing the route. It deserves a nod of approving gratification. ' Proposed creation of a curb, gutter 'Jnd roadway project in Highland Park was taken under advisement by the Salt Lake City commission this week, following last week's protest of property owners in the area. More than 45 per cent of the property owners in the area supported the protest to the commission made by Arthur . H. Nielsen, 2178 East 17th South. Most protestants favored leaving the roadways as they are to effect a rustic atmosphere atmos-phere to the area, while others objected to the improvements because of high construction costs. |
