(Neal) White, manager of the Sugar House First Security bank, said the First Security foundation foun-dation has appropriated $10,000 for the establishment of scholarships scholar-ships and library grants at nine colleges and universities in Utah and Idaho and in support of 4-H and Future Farmers of America programs. Scholarships and grants totaling $8400 have been contributed to the ten universities and colleges in the area served by First Security's Se-curity's 54 banking offices. White quoted George S. Eccles, foundation trustee, as saying, "It is hoped that this will be the beginning be-ginning of a program which can be carried out in the future years." The awarding of scholarships will be made through each school's scholarship committee, in conjunction conjunc-tion with the head of the department depart-ment or school of business, and a representative of the foundation. Students selected must have a high scholastic average and be majoring in banking and finance. The appropriation allocated to the 4-H, Future Farmers of America Amer-ica and other similar projects will be available to deserving high school students in the area, under a program which is presently being worked out, White said. |
