Show Chamber Project Will Put Flags On Area Streets On Flag Day last week, Sugar House showed its patriotic colors, literally, by displaying approximately approx-imately 14 flags in front of business busi-ness houses. According to Jim Cannon, Secretary of the Chamber of Commerce, this was a big improvement im-provement over the number of flags displayed in the past But there was a reason only 14 flags were on display. There was a flag in every hole provided to house the pole. At one time there were holes in front of every business busi-ness firm in Sugar House, but time and expansion have brought more businesses than holes for flag poles. Mr. Neisen R. Bank, Sugar House jeweler, is spearheading a committee for the Chamber of Commerce. Their objective is to place a flag in front of every business busi-ness in Sugar . House on national holidays. Holes will be drilled in the sidewalk to house the flags, and merchants can buy flags from the Chamber of Commerce at wholesale prices. By July 4, Mr. Bank and his committee are hoping hop-ing for "an imposing sight" of Old Glory flying in front of every store in Sugar House. |
