The following two problems were cited by Mr. Sorensen as needing revision: re-vision: 1. The practice of many employees em-ployees and employers to park their cars on the main streets or in the choicest off street parking park-ing stalls. 2. The tendency of employers to assume that they have no ob ' ligation to furnish EITHER customer off - street parking spaces or employee zones. The Sugar House Chamber of Commerce parking committee is now working on the "E-E Program" Pro-gram" to educate local workers to park in certain designed zones where customers do' not usually park. The program also calls for a campaign to get business owners to either (1) provide customer parking area, or (2) contribute toward the financing of an off-street off-street parking lot owned by someone some-one else. Each customer parking stall convenienly located is worth from $12,000 to $50,000 per year to a mercantile business, Mr. Sorensen said. And yet, even today there are many landowners who will build a plant covering their entire property and with no provision for customer parking, he added. i Free and easy parking for customers is the greatest asset Sugar House has, and we must preserve it, Mr. .Sorensen. concluded. |
