Show i U ) i ; 'j ADIEL F. STEWART ADIEL STEWART SEEKS S. L. MAYORSHIP Salt Lake County Commissioner Adiel F. Stewart, Republican, this week tossed his hat into the Salt Lake City mayoral race. Mayor Earl J. Glade, Democrat incumbent, also is a candidate to succeed himself. He has served four terms. In a brief statement announcing his candidacy, Stewart stated: "With the extremely rapid development de-velopment and growth of Salt Lake county, the people of the city and county are faced with identical problems resulting from that growth. Commissioner Stewart was born in Salt Lake City and has attended attend-ed schools here and the University of Utah. He has headed the department de-partment of Health and charity since his election to the Salt Lake county commission and was commission com-mission chairman during 1953 and 1954. Commissioner Stewart has been in business since attending school. He is president and manager of Stewart Brothers Co., a real estate holding company; secretary-treasurer of Acme Lime Products Co.; president of the Plateau Gas & Oil Co., and a director of the Platte Oil Co. of Wyoming. Prior to his moving to his present pres-ent address, 1574 Cherokee Circle, he was president of the Temple View LDS stake for a period of ten years and immediately before this was bishop of McKinley ward for approximately eight years.
