Show Rise Stevens Opens Symphony Conductor Honored The most gala social event of the year received a melodic sendoff Wednesday evening at the Hotel Utah. Roof Garden when symphony friends and patrons honored their renown conductor, Maurice Abrav-anel, Abrav-anel, and famed mezzo-soprano, Rise Stevens. Miss Stevens is guest artist for the opening concert of the season preceding the annual symphony soiree. At this festive supper-dance she became acquainted with Salt Lake City society as she shared the honor spotlight with the orchestra's conductor. Acting as hostess for the evening was Mrs. Samuel Makoff, capable chairman of the affair- She was assisted by her co-chairman, Mrs. Norman Paul Stark. Other symphony "boosters" who have been interested in offering their time and talen to Mrs. Ma-koff's Ma-koff's committee are Mrs. Thornton D.
