Show Two Blistered Knees AMBULANCE OFFICES ESCAPES DEATH l!i CRASH SKID Back on the job with two blistered knees this weekend was Sugar House Police Officer Louis William Duncan, 44, who lived miraculously through an ambulance-automobile smash-up Tuesday at 13th East and 17th South. Responding to a rush emergency call, Officer Duncan was whipping westward on 17th South, and an automobile investigators said was driven by Craig Temple was proceeding north on 13th East. They tied at the crossing and in the ensuring crash the police ambulance was hurtled onto its top and tobogganed 70 feet down the hard-surfaced street. Hurled from his driver's seat, Officer Duncan was thrown onto his knees, kneeling on the skidding upsidedown top. Friction heat burned his knees painfully. Hospitalized for treatment, Officer Duncan had his knees patched and returned to work next morning. The ambulance was a total loss! |
