EDITOR'S NOTE: I'm writing writ-ing the column this week myself, my-self, because Mel Wright, who enstomarily does the joh, was one of the principals in last week's goings-on, and the account ac-count he tnrned in didn't tell half the story. To take these awards in the order or-der they occurred, President Web Richards first presented Melvin Jones awards to Kay Hammond, Harold Drage, J. R. Nichol, Nate Wagstaff, Mel Boley, Ken Sutherland Suth-erland and Mel Wright (and Web got one himself) for the outstanding outstand-ing record made in the membership mem-bership drive in January. In addition the club officers, President Presi-dent Web, Secretary Roy Hobbs and Mel Boley as membership chairman, received silver lions for the club's exceeding its membership mem-bership quota. Web then presented J. R. Nichol Nich-ol with a key in recognition of outstanding service to the or-ganizaion, or-ganizaion, after which Mr. Randall Ran-dall gave a brief talk on Lion-ism, Lion-ism, at the conclusion of which he presented master keys and plaques to Web and to Frank Withers, a charter member and ,pa?t president. This senior master key is the first award of its kind ever made in" this district. At this point Mel himself stepped up and presented the code of ethics plaque and the dinner gong (see picture) to the club. These trophies were won in district competition in 1944-15. 1944-15. Altogether it was an inspiring in-spiring evening and a fitting recognition of the men who work unselfishly and tirelessly in the interests of civic improvement, good citizenship and good fellowship. fellow-ship.
