Show 'Mormon' Trek SUP Plans Told An important announcement on the reenactment of the Mormon Mor-mon Battalion trek, and an address ad-dress by Matthew Cowley were the highlights of the annual Christmas party of the Sugar House Sons of Utah Pioneers, Tuesday evening at Beau Brum-mel Brum-mel Restaurant, 3000 Highland Drive. Lambert, second vice-president of the state organization, or-ganization, made the announcement announce-ment in regard to next March's trek over the Mormon Battalion trail. The trip will not be an exact reenactment of the original orig-inal march, because circumstances circum-stances preclude that, Mr. Lambert Lam-bert said. However, the caravan cara-van will focus national attention atten-tion on the dramatic story of the Mormon Battalion. Both S.U.P. members and their wives are invited to participate. The group will gather at Salt Lake City for departure in chartered char-tered buses on Monday, March 13, 1950, at 7 a.m. Luncheon will be served when the caravan cara-van arrives in CecfSr City, under un-der the direction of the S.U.P. Cedar City chapter. The first evening will be spent at the south rim of the Grand Canyon Can-yon in Arizona. The second evening will be spent in Mesa, Ariz., where a special program is being planned by Ernest R. McKay, first vice-president of the state organization. There will be an excursion to the L.D.S. Temple for those with recommends. The third night will be spent at Tucson, Ariz., where the actual trail of the Mormon Battalion will begin for the caravan. An evening program of entertainment will be conducted by Dr. W. L. Wort-ton, Wort-ton, third vice-president. W. W. Johnson of Ogden will direct a march of infantry in original costume through the city. A short visit will also be made to Tubac, where the first L.D.S. colony in Arizona was established. The caravan will arrive in San Diego on March 16th. Arrangements Ar-rangements are underway foi an encampment to be held in Balboa Park in that city. The caravan will make its next over-nigt over-nigt stop in Los Angeles as guests of the Southern California chapter. chap-ter. The final stop will be made in San Bcrndardino on March 18th. The entire caravan will be invited to be guests of the National Orange Show, and will be greeted by Governor Earl Warren of California. Saturday will be set aside as "Mormon Day" in San Bernardino.
